Description
In this fun class, students will:
- Do lots of experiments and activities
- Give presentations
- Write papers
- Read and engage with literature
- Study original and historical scientific documents
- Keep a nature journal
- And ask lots of questions!
I’ve created this class with slightly older teenagers in mind. Usually students are at least 14–15 and have experienced a year or two of scholar classes. It is a year-long class designed for two 15-week semesters, meeting together for 2 hours per week.
***This listing includes training to accompany the Pattern and Possibility Mentor curriculum. Please note that if you order the Pattern & Possibility Mentor Binder, you will receive an email with details to attend training for free. Training this year will be held June 18th, 2026. If you plan to attend and this is a conflict for you, please contact the creator, Diannalynn Claridge, to see about scheduling a different time that works for you.
There are two downloads with this binder. In addition to the binder there is a file for the foldable bookmark, to be used for all book readings and discussions. It is in landscape, rather than portrait orientation, and needs to be printed back-to-back, flipped on the short side.
This download is intended for use by a single mentor and is not to be shared between mentors. Student Binders should be purchased for each student in class.

Amy Walsworth –
I have an interesting perspective on this class. I was asked to be an assistant teacher a couple years ago, and said YES! Very quickly, I realized that I didn’t know most of the things I was to be mentoring the students about. I hated math and science as a kid, but decided to “bite the bullet” and actually do the coursework WITH the students. I did the papers and read the books. I even completed a science fair project for the first time in 20 years! Both the teenagers and I learned and grew so much throughout the course!!! It was amazing to see the teens make connections and dive deep. For me personally, this curriculum was life changing!!! I always thought I was a terrible student who couldn’t learn ANYTHING! That just wasn’t true. My passion for learning and growing has been engaged for the first time in my life. I would 100% recommend this curriculum both as a student and as a mentor!!!!!
