Description
What is a document study? Is it just reading the Declaration of Independence or the Mayflower Compact? What qualifies as a document that should be studied? Are the only things worth studying written down on paper, or can you study other cultural icons? The answer is that there is a lot that we can learn from studying famous documents and other icons. They bring insights to ideas, philosophies, and cultures of the past as well as revealing basic foundational truths about humanity in general. Through studying documents successfully in the classroom, scholars develop the ability to gain insight into the world around them and in their own lives. In this presentation I will talk about what constitutes a document study and break down how to use this tool in your classroom effectively.
