Description
Welcome to Pattern and Possibility! This curriculum integrates a strong STEM foundation with literature and discussion, to develop critical thinking skills, scientific reasoning, and truth‑seeking habits in students. Grounded in the Core Crosscutting Concepts, it teaches students to recognize patterns, explore the natural world, ask meaningful questions, and evaluate their discoveries alongside the truths found in their core books. By doing so, students develop the analytical mindset essential—regardless of their life plans—to develop strong reasoning skills and a deep commitment to truth.
In this fun class, students will:
- Do lots of experiments and activities
- Give presentations
- Write papers
- Read and engage with literature
- Study original and historical scientific documents
- Keep a nature journal
- And ask lots of questions!
I’ve created this class with slightly older teenagers in mind. Usually students are at least 14–15 and have experienced a year or two of scholar classes. It is a year-long class designed for two 15-week semesters, meeting together for 2 hours per week.
