Description
Unsure how to best teach 8–12-year-olds? Looking for a refresher on how to mentor a Love of Learning class? This is the class for you! Join us over Zoom on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm for a Love of Learning Mentor Skills Training.
It is hard to teach what we do not know and have personal
experience with. Many of us were raised learning the seven lessons that John Taylor Gatto shared in Dumbing Us Down. These lessons are Confusion, Submission to Class Position, Indifference, Emotional Dependency, Intellectual Dependency, Provisional Self-Esteem, and Submission to Constant Surveillance. We find these lessons taught in many schools today, and homeschoolers are not immune. So how
can we teach what we do not know? We learn and grow ourselves.
Anyone looking to teach 8–12-year-old students the lessons of Initiative, Ingenuity, Allegiance to Good, Integrity, Commitment, Passion, and Impact is in the right place. In this training mentors will learn how to foster a Love of Learning in their students that will facilitate these lessons. Mentors will learn how to make a positive
difference in the lives of those they teach as they inspire students to find joy in discovery.
In preparation for this training attendees are expected to
have read the book For the Love of Learning: Giving Your Child a LOLIPOP
Education by Amy Edwards. To purchase this book, you can go to https://www.lovetolearn.net/products/for-the-love-of-learning-giving-your-children-a-lolipop-education?_pos=2&_psq=lo&_ss=e&_v=1.0.
