My name is Julie Lopez and ten years ago, in 2014, some friends and I decided to start a homeschool co-op in Pocatello. At the time there wasn’t one here. There had been one before, and others would be created afterwards, but at the time making our own or driving 45 minutes away were the only options.
My focus for these past ten years with this co-op, and many years before that in other groups, has been mentoring the 12-18 year-olds. I have come to see that these kids have so much potential. They have so much ability and such great ideas. As we have had discussions, I have learned that 9 times out of 10 they will bring up all the best points I could think of and many that I didn’t. I have seen them write great songs, create amazing videos, write amazing papers, plan fun activities, memorize hundreds of Shakespeare lines, sew costumes, build realistic looking sets, and the list goes on. These kids deserve the chance to shine and to have fun while doing it.
I have looked for pre-made curriculums, but didn’t ever find exactly what I was looking for, so I have spent hours upon hours creating content, games, simulations and entire classes. I have decided that it would be great to share some of them with others in the hopes that they serve others as well as they have us. Try one!Â
