Description
This manual guides students through the first 13 weeks of the year-long, 35 week Art of Botany course. With over 100 pages of brightly-colored and engaging pages, Art of Botany will inspire students to dig deep into the material and develop their botanical knowledge and artistic skills. Full of thought-provoking questions, hands-on activities, and challenging art assignments, students will be eager to complete their work and master the topics.
Students of Art of Botany will jump right in with “The G.R.O.W. Project”, a 10 task project that students will work on throughout the year in addition to their weekly assignments. G.R.O.W. stands for:
G-Get out (in nature)
R-Record
O-Observe
W-Wonder
Some of the tasks included in “The G.R.O.W. Project” are a “Botanical Art Sketchbook”, “Rain Collection/Testing”, “Plant Scrapbook”, “Nature Hikes” and a “Nature Journal”.
In addition to the G.R.O.W. Project, students will have weekly reading assignments, vocabulary, comprehension questions, and drawing assignments. (See sample pages in the photo gallery.)
Students also will need some art supplies (listed in the manual) and a copy of Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
To complete the course, students will need to purchase the “Art of Botany-2nd Semester Student Manual”.
