Description
Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare is a novel that takes place in 18th Century New England. Kit, an orphan, finds herself alone in the world with the sudden death of her grandfather. She decides to travel alone to her last remaining relative in New England, Aunt Rachel. Here, she is forced to adjust to a way of life very different from what she has known with her grandfather. She has never had to work for anything and now she is digging onions and teaching school. Their religious beliefs are also very different from her own and she stumbles into trouble trying to adapt to her new life. This is a small manual designed to support an older child’s Book Club. This resource was designed to be used with Love of Learning and transition to Scholar kids in A Thomas Jefferson Education method or all kids ages 10 to 15 interested in participating in a book club. Included in the packet is discussion questions, hands on activities, essay/opinion paper topics, and quotes for possible memorization.
